This stamp is one of a set of three printed by Indonesia in 1973 to promote tourism (pariwisata) by emphasizing its unique and diverse masking cultures.  The mask in this stamp depicts a Wayang Wong mask from the island of Bali. The character represented is probably Rawana, the cruel and intemperate king of Alengka. Wayang Wong is a dance drama modeled on the influential Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
