VALUE: 20 ngultrum x 8

This set of eight stamps was issued by the government of Bhutan to commemorate Bhutan’s Druk Wangyel Festival, a celebration held annually in Dochula Pass to commemorate a military victory over insurgents in 2003. Unlike most festival dances, the Druk Wangyel is performed by the Royal Bhutan Army, not monks or lay citizens. Among the masked dances depicted are the Raven-Headed Deity, the Jetsun Milarepa, the Tschering Chednga, the Gadpo & Ganmo, and the Farewell of Heroes. All stamps are denominated at the same value of 20 ngultrum.
